Biography van Ill Niño

Ill Niño is an American nu metal band formed in Union City, New Jersey, in 1998 by drummer Dave Chavarri, who is the band's sole original member. The band has released seven studio albums, two EPs, and one compilation album, with total worldwide album sales exceeding 1.3 million. Ill Niño was initially formed as El Niño in May 1998 by former Pro-Pain drummer Dave Chavarri. He recruited Merauder vocalist Jorge Rosado, guitarist Daniel Gomez, and bassist Christian Machado, with Chavarri taking on the role of drummer and percussionist. The band released a self-titled EP, but Gomez left shortly afterward, and various guitarists filled his position, including Marc Rizzo, Scott Roberts of Biohazard, and Derek Sykes of Demolition Hammer. By the time Sykes contributed to the 1999 compilation album "Métalo," the band had changed its name to Ill Niño. In 1999, Chavarri took over Roy Mayorga's role in Soulfly on the "Bring Da Shit Tour," putting Ill Niño on hold. After returning, Chavarri reformed the band with a new lineup: Machado switched from bass to lead vocals, and they were joined by guitarists Marc Rizzo and Jardel Paisante, bassist Lazaro Pina, and percussionist Roger Vasquez. The band gained exposure through New Jersey's metal college radio station WSOU and played the World Series of Metal festival. They were signed to Roadrunner Records in June 2000 and began recording their debut album later that year. Mainstream Success Ill Niño released their debut album, "Revolution Revolución," on September 18, 2001. The album peaked at No. 28 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 350,000 copies worldwide within two years. In 2003, before recording their follow-up, the band parted ways with guitarist Marc Rizzo and percussionist Roger Vasquez. Their second album, "Confession," was recorded in mid-2003 and released on September 30, 2003. It debuted at No. 37 on the Billboard 200 and included the hit single "How Can I Live," which reached No. 26 on the Mainstream Rock chart. Their third album, "One Nation Underground," was released on September 27, 2005, debuting at No. 101 on the Billboard 200. In July 2006, Ill Niño parted ways with Roadrunner Records and guitarist Jardel Paisante, signing with the newly formed Cement Shoes Records. The band released "The Best of Ill Niño" in September 2006 as a contractual obligation to Roadrunner. Through Cement Shoes Records, the band released "The Under Cover Sessions" EP in 2007 and their fourth studio album, "Enigma," in 2008. "Enigma" debuted at No. 145 on the Billboard 200, selling 5,000 copies in its first week. In March 2010, Ill Niño signed with Victory Records, and their label debut, "Dead New World," was released on October 25, 2010, produced by Sahaj Ticotin and Clint Lowery of Sevendust. Their sixth album, "Epidemia," was released on October 22, 2012. This album marked the departure of long-time percussionist Daniel "Danny" Couto, who was replaced by Oscar Santiago. Ill Niño's seventh studio album, "Till Death La Familia," was released on July 22, 2014. After the release of "Till Death La Familia," the band toured in support of the album and celebrated the 15th anniversary of "Revolution Revolución" with a worldwide "15 Years Of Revolution" tour in 2016 and 2017.
